Treyarch LLC - Santa Monica, CA - 1998-Present.
- NGL: Treyarch's cross-platform graphics library, Lead Programmer.
NGL is a 9 programmer library project that is currently being used to develop multiple games
at Treyarch and at other Activision studios. NGL currently supports Sony Playstation 2,
Microsoft XBox, Nintendo GameCube, and Microsoft's upcoming Xenon console.
My primary responsibility is managing the team and providing technical direction. I'm also
responsible for implementing, maintaining and supporting the Playstation 2 version, as well
as providing "contract programmer" support to projects for custom effects and graphics work.
NGL was instrumental in Spider-Man: The Movie, which was the first game ever to ship
simultaneously for Playstation 2, XBox and GameCube, all of which were developed at Treyarch
using NGL.
NGL was also used in Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer, Sega Sports NHL 2K3, Minority Report and
Spider-Man 2, and is currently in use by several unreleased titles.
- Spider-Man 2, shipped June 2004, Consulting & Programming.
Provided technical assistance during design and development, writing many shaders and doing
critical optimization work. Was personally responsible for city rendering on PS2 as well as many aspects of the day <-> night transition and special effects.
Spider-Man 2 is Activision's fastest selling game ever, selling nearly 1,000,000 units in its
first month on the market.
- Spider-Man: The Movie, shipped March 2002, Programmer.
Responsible for all PS2 and platform-independent graphics programming. Worked with artists and
designers, designed effects, etc. Developed a Playstation 2 rendering engine from scratch which
later became the basis for NGL.
To date, SpiderMan: The Movie has sold over 4 million units.
- Tony Hawks Pro Skater, shipped June 2000, Programmer.
Dreamcast port of the popular skateboarding game. Had it up and playable on DC in a month.
Our work was also the basis for Tony Hawk 2 Dreamcast, SpiderMan Dreamcast, and Tony Hawk 2X
for XBox.
- Draconus: Cult of the Wyrm, shipped March 2000, Programmer.
Dreamcast Action/Adventure game. Designed/built various systems and platform specific libraries
for Treyarchs ArchEngine, ported the engine to Dreamcast from PC.
The engine has been used in many Treyarch games including Max Steel: Covert Operations (Dreamcast),
Spider-Man: The Movie, Spider-Man 2, Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer and Minority Report.
- Triple Play Baseball 2001: shipped March 2000, Programmer.
Playstation/PC franchise title. Reworked the play-by-play announcer system, helped out with bug
fixes and speed optimization.
- Triple Play Baseball 2000: shipped March 1999, Programmer.
N64 franchise title. Wrote portions of the front end, worked on Nintendo guideline compliance,
optimized the graphics engine and fixed bugs.
JVC Digital Arts Studio - (closed) - 1996-1998.
- Iron John Hawk - PC original title, shipped June 1998, Lead Programmer.
Managed a 7 programmer team through the creation of this 2D isometric action game for Windows 95.
Published by Capcom.
- Betrayer - PC original title, cancelled after 6 months production.
Moved from programming to game design, was also doing research into 3D engines.
